Brush and vacuum sweeps are done with a traditional rod and brush system. We have many different rod and brush types to suit different flues / chimneys. We also use a high powered filtered ash vacuum to catch the majority of soot whilst sweeping and clean dust sheets and soot sheets to ensure no mess is left and the chimney is safe and clean for another season of using.
You Don’t Have to Clean After We Have Swept.
Every working fireplace be it gas or solid fuel should be swept at least once a year it is essential too prevent chimney fires and also to help the products of combustion escape. If a chimney gets too blocked you run the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. We also strongly recommend for every room where there is a gas or solid fuel appliance you have a carbon monoxide detector present.
“Really good service from Adam and his team, he let us know when he was on his way, when he arrived the work was done very quickly and to a good quality. Very much recommended, very professional!”
We are happy to come and inspect your chimney for blockages, including that of bird nests, leaving a nest could cause a chimney fire, it could also during spring cause harm or death to nesting birds. All birds nests and eggs are protected by law: the Wildlife & Countryside Act of 1981. This means that we are only permitted to remove nests that are unused a regular sweep and inspection should deter birds from nesting, we can also fit a chimney cowl if you have had this problem previously.
“Adam provided an excellent ,knowledgeable service, he takes pride in his work and is extremely tidy. Highly recommended.”
Why you need a cowl in most applications.
A Cowl will increase the draft of a chimney and prevent backflow. The cowl is fitted to the chimney pot to prevent wind blowing the smoke back down into the room below.
A Cowl will prevent birds and squirrels from nesting in the chimney.
They often also act as a rain guard to keep rain from going down the chimney.
We will be happy to quote for fitment of Chimney pots and Cowls, priced upon height, access and type.
“Arrived promptly, understood our requirements. Tidy and efficient whilst doing job. Very professional”
We take on full installations and renovations of existing fire places and can safely remove an existing Victorian fireplace / cast iron / stone / brick and create an opening big enough to accommodate a chosen log burner or stove.
We then complete the installation carrying out our own general building works applying either plaster or render to the opening ready for paint or finishing in tiles or bricks slips depending on your choice.
We also supply and install hearths to suit your choice of fire or tile the hearth with suitable tiles.
Completing the look with a fire surround something like a floating oak beam which serves as a decorative feature and mantel above the fire or more traditional options.
We can install Flue liners.
We Provide Internal Camera surveys of Chimneys and Flues
A survey will establish any issues with gas or smoke leakages, as well as giving a specific idea of the dimensions and structure of your Chimney / flue, which lets us decide upon the best lining method for your chimney if required.
We can remove old fireplaces and chimneys
If you have decided that you require extra space in your room or just don’t use your fireplace we can remove it safely for you.
